Facebook Town Hall is here to help you to connect with your local government officials

After City Guides and Weather buttons that were recently introduced in the Facebook App, now its turn to make your mobile device into a virtual Town hall.

This is one of the most thoughtful addition which helps you to find your local government representatives on local, district, state or centre level.

Clicking on Town Hall brings up a prompt where you can enter your address to locate the government officials that represent your district. Facebook mentioned that it won’t share your address. Town Hall does manage to identify officials down to your local zone.

 

Once your results are generated, the App brings up a list of government officials. You can use this list to follow then on Facebook or Contact them by calling, emailing or messaging. But for this, your local government representative need to be on facebook.

As per Facebook Spokesperson “Town Hall is part of our ongoing work to support civic engagement on election day and every day. It is dedicated space for people who want to learn about and participate in the political process.”
